Helvella griseoalba is found in Eastern North America
Helvella cf. griseoalba (N.S. Weber 1972) Spore dimensions differ from this collection and collections of H. costifera, with H. costifera having larger spores. Seems to be recognized as a species in this paper from Europe: “The genera Helvella and Dissingia (Ascomycota: Pezizomycetes) in Europe – Notes on species from Spain.” (A collection from Michigan USA was examined.) H. griseoalba is said to be in a clade (species complex) with the closely related H. costifera.
This collection of Helvella griseoalba had a shallow gray cup. White ribbed stem, with ribs extending to the margin of the cup. With pine, hardwoods nearby, moss present; early June.
