Inocybe earleana is found with hardwoods and pine.

These Inocybe mushrooms were found in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest with strictly hardwoods (oak/beech woods) and at McCormick’s Creek State Park in mixed pine and hardwood forest with oak and beech present; both times in the month of July. Large fruitings in each county. No distinctive odor.

Pileus yellowish-brown or clay color, with a prominent umbo, stipe white and hollow, odor not described; spores with scattered indistinct nodules; pleurocystidia thin-walled; in mixed woods under Picea, Fagus,” Material observed was from New York.
