Mycena clavicularis can be found in North America east of the Mississippi River and along the west coast.
Found under pine trees, consuming pine needles and bark, helping to break them down and return organic nutrients to the soil. Note how the cap color varies as this mushroom matures, going from brown to almost white. Striate (lined) cap. Gills are white and attached to the stem, beginning to run down it. Stem smooth; white or brownish-gray (seems to depend on maturity), sometimes almost translucent.
Described at Burke Museum Herbarium.
Reported collections of Mycena clavicularis in North America at iNaturalist. Either absent or under-reported in the Great Plains.
