Polyporus fagicola is found in Eastern North America.
A saprobic fungus that is found growing from hardwood logs and branches. Cap usually brown/tan in color with white undertones, developing brown scales; often zoned. Middle of cap can be sunken and somewhat funnel shaped. Stem is similar in color to the cap. Pores are large and run down the stem; white Summer. Some sources (Index Fungorum) have this species listed as a synonym of Bresadolia craterella. Others (Mushroom Observer and iNatualist) seem to treat them as separate species. Bresadolia craterella is said to have a smooth pore surface, with pores not visible to the eye. And it has a tropical to subtropical distribution in the Americas.
