Russula subtilis occurs in the Eastern United States.

Russula subtilis is a small pinkish-red Russula that seems to like oak and other hardwoods. Cap often a light pink, but can exhibit deep pink to reddish coloration. Gills yellow with age; spaced between close to distant. Fragile and crumbly. Stem equal or sometimes with a swollen base; white, often with pinkish tones like cap color.

Caps on these examples less than one inch. Usually 5-6 cm tall with caps up to 5cm wide, although, as with all mushrooms, size can vary greatly. Said to smell like parsley.
