Hygrocybe acutoconica is found across North America and Europe.
This example was growing with cedar and hardwoods. Moss present. Visid cap and stem. Cap is striated (lined margin), usually a bright, shiny red, but can also be shades of yellow and orange or a combination of these; sometimes all yellow. Gills are attached; yellow in color, changing to yellow-orange with age. Yellow, slimy stem, white at the base and often has straight or twisted orange lines.
Here are reported collections of Hygrocybe acutoconica var. microspora at iNatualist, many with DNA sequences; with images showing color variations.
