Hygrocybe glutinipes var rubra is reported from North America and Europe.
This may or may not be Hygrocybe glutinipes var. rubra, which was originally described from Norway and does not match up with DNA records. The name Hygrocybe fenestrata nom. prov. may come into play in the future. Cap color varies greatly; can be red, orange, yellow or a combination of these; lined. Viscid cap and stem. Attached gills start to run down the stem. White spore print. Grows in woods; often associated with moss and grass.
